If you are one of the millions of people who find meal times a nightmare, then the production team of a major new television documentary would like to hear from you.
An estimated 80% of the British population consider themselves to have issues or struggle with food. Many people live with eating rituals and compulsions that can have an overwhelming impact on their own health and happiness. These behaviours can be very upsetting and frustrating for surrounding family and friends, and if they are telling you something is wrong it’s probably time to start dealing with it.
We want to speak to people who feel they need to change their relationship with food. The programme will focus on helping those involved by working with professionals who are able to give one-to-one counselling and advice.
So if you, or someone you know, is battling with food and you would like to find out more about the programme please call Anna or Heather, in confidence, on 0207 290 0670 or email heatherm@bettytv.co.uk

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is John Brice, and I have started A.N.T.S, a campaign for adequate and effective treatment for people with eating disorders.
Why we are called A.N.T.S.
In 1970 I was serving with the Royal Air Force in Madagascar. Madagascar is an island that lies to the East of South Africa.
Sitting on the verandah one sunny afternoon, with a cold drink in my hand, I noticed a grasshopper on one of the white supporting pillars. Nothing unusual in that, except that grasshoppers in Madagascar are nearly twice as big as the ones you find in the UK, but this one was moving up the pillar without moving its body!
On closer inspection I saw a line of ants stretching the full twelve-foot height of the pillar. Very firmly in their grasp was the grasshopper, which they slowly but surely carried higher and higher up the pillar. In amazement and admiration I watched the ants “anthandle” the grasshopper to the top of the pillar. Okay, now what, I was thinking? Well it didn’t take long before I had the answer. The ants manoeuvred the grasshopper into a small crack at the top of the pillar and so, I assume, into their food store.
Today, more than thirty years later, I still vividly remember what those ants achieved that day. Yes, they are about one and a half times the size of a UK ant, but it required an amazing amount of skill, intelligence, perseverance, strength, organisation and co-operation to achieve the objective. One or two ants could not possibly have done the job. Only by working together for the common good could they hope to be successful.
Now, I would like to emulate their example and, by finding other like minded “ants” from the length and breadth of the UK, work together, in unison, to achieve the objective that we are all, individually, fighting to achieve. Specifically, to bring about the change that is needed, at both local and national level, to provide:
Adequate Nationwide Treatment for Sufferers
of eating disorders.
Now you know why we are called A.N.T.S. I acknowledge that I am unable to achieve the objective alone but together we CAN do the job. We can work smarter not harder, and like the ANTS in Madagascar, we will succeed. If you feel as strongly as we do then MAKE A DIFFERENCE – JOIN US!
